This week I’m spotlighting The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. Which actually doesn’t release until 2018 but, well, I’m really excited for it and want to feature it now. I was recently recommended Holly Black’s books and when I checked Goodreads and stumbled across this one it automatically went on my TBR. One, I love faerie books. Two, it sounds dark and I need more dark books in my life. So, yeah, I can’t wait to get my hands on this one!

I was going through the previous Standalone Sunday’s I’ve done and realized that while I recommended Jandy’s debut novel I haven’t recommended I’ll Give You The Sun. Well, I think it’s time to fix that.
Even though The Sky is Everywhere is my favorite of the two I absolutely loved this one. Much like her debut novel, I’ll Give You The Sun explores the way in which grief and secrets can affect a family. It’s told through alternating perspectives as well as past and present and through those perspectives we get to see what exactly happened to create a rift between twins Noah and Jude. What I continue to love about Jandy’s novels, especially this one, is how raw they feel in terms of emotions. She has a way with crafting words that really hit you. But don’t let me fool you this book is more than just it’s sad moments because it also has these humorous lighter moments that will make you crack up laughing or even fangirl. Also, like The Sky is Everywhere, we get to see both of these siblings experience first love (and first heartbreak) which, hands down, I believe Jandy Nelson does flawlessly. Plus, I love how I’ll Give You Then Sun has such a family focus. Neither Noah or Jude are perfect, their whole family isn’t perfect but it’s realistic and I loved that fact.
So, if like any of the above things in a contemporary novel then I highly recommend giving this book a read.

The Pros & Cons Of Being A Mood Reader
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much of a mood reader I am and the fact that it has its upsides and its downsides. I know my fellow mood readers will agree with me when I say that it can sometimes be impossible to read a book when you’re a mood reader and just not in the mood for it. You try to start it and then find yourself getting impatient and/or walking away from the book. However, at the opposite end is when you’re really in the mood for a book and can’t put it down for anything.
Which brings me to what I want to talk about –
The pros and cons of being a mood reader.
5 Reasons You Should Read The Bone Season & A Playlist
You guys must be thinking, “She’s recommending The Bone Season again?” Yes, yes I am. I can’t stop thinking about the most recent release and just want all my fellow fantasy/dystopian lovers to read the series because it deserves all the praise (though, of course, I’m extremely biased at this point since I already love it so much).
Another reason I wanted to make this post is because I’ve been working on a little Paige and Warden playlist that I want to share with everyone. It’s still a work in progress but what better way to share what I have so far than by recommending the books, right? I think it’s safe to say I’m still in book hangover mode nearly three months post The Song Rising and feeling all the Paige and Warden feels.

I discovered this while browsing NetGalley last week and was instantly drawn in by the synopsis and the mention of a portal and how kind of dark it all sounds. I’ve not seen much about it but from the reviews on Goodreads so far it definitely seems like one to watch out for. I can’t wait to read it!
