Blogiversary Q&A Answers Part 3 | Blogging and Random Stuff

part3blogv.png

So, this post is extremely late and extremely long. I actually planned on posting it a few weeks ago but work got in the way of me finishing it. However, as the saying goes, better late than never! Here’s part 3 of my Blogiversary Q&A where I answer all of your blog related and random questions. Be sure to check out parts one and two.

Thanks so much for all of your questions guys! 💕😊

Beth @ Reading Every Night:

  • What has been the best part of your blogging journey so far (other than reaching your one year blogiversary)?

Hands down, the best part of my blogging journey has been all of the friends I’ve made. I’ve had some of the best conversations on here and a lot of great laughs. It makes me glad that I decided to give blogging another chance, otherwise I wouldn’t have.

  • What is your favourite post that you’ve published?

favorite.PNG

It’s a more recent post but I had so much fun writing it and then discussing it with everyone.

  • What has been the strangest dream you’ve had?

I’ve had so many strange dreams that I’m not even sure which to pick… A few months ago I was having recurring zombie dreams. The first one I had was where the zombie apocalypse was going on and even though the news stations were covering it (which we were watching in the dream) my family didn’t believe me. Then all of the sudden there was this knock on our back door (which was odd since we have a really tall fence) and I open it to see a mom and daughter who had obviously been attacked by zombies. Guess what my family does? Invites them in! Yeah, dream me shut that down real quickly, ran outside to grab the cats, slammed the door shut, and began locking down the entire house. Oddly enough we had one of those security systems from The Purge. I woke up a little after that but it was a really weird dream.

  • Do you have any interesting plans for next year blogging on Book Nerd Momo?

I haven’t really thought about it yet. I do know that I want to look into doing either self-hosting or WordPress Premium, that’s been my goal since I first started blogging. Beyond that, I’m kind of winging it still. I’m not one to plan too far ahead when it comes to blogging. 🙈

  • Would you rather be able to change your past or see into your future?

Definitely, see into my future. I wouldn’t want to change my past because then it would change who I am. Sort of reminds me of that quote from The Lion King –

  • Other than books/laptop what would you say is the best thing you own?

Would my Kindle count? I’m going with that because I read a lot of ebooks.

Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews:

  • What’s your favourite and least favourite part of blogging?

My favorite part of blogging is definitely blog hopping. Though very time consuming I love my blog hopping days because I always end up discovering a new book(s) or having a great conversation with someone, it’s fun. And then my least favorite part of blogging is actually how time-consuming it can be sometimes. I feel like there’s irony in that as my favorite part of blogging is the part that takes me the most time. 😂

  • Is there anything about blogging that you didn’t expect when you first started?

I didn’t expect how much I would actually talk to people on here. I’ve been on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and even had another blog before this and rarely if ever talked to anyone on any of them. I’m extremely shy in real life and that can cross-over into the online world as well but somehow I managed to break out of my shell on here.

  •  What are some of your current favourite songs?

I made a playlist for this!! 🎉

Michelle @ Book Adventures:

  • If you can live anywhere (fictional or not) for the rest of your life, where would you live?

Since I went with fictional for Beth’s question I’m going for real here. I would want to live in Ireland. I actually want to move there one day because it’s gorgeous and my dad’s side of the family is from Ireland.

Jasmine @ How Useful It Is:

  • Is you review different in each book or do you follow the same guidelines?

try to follow a similar guideline for each review – initial reaction after I finished, overview, world building, characters, and if I recommend it. Sometimes that doesn’t always work out. For example, when doing a spoiler review I’ve noticed I tend to skip the overview. Same for when I’m trying to be really vague about a book. Also, world building is almost always left out for contemporary book reviews.

Marie @ Drizzle & Hurricane Books:

  • What’s one place in the world you’d love to visit?

I would so love to visit Prague! Ever since I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor I’ve wanted to travel there. 😍

prague_banner

  • What would be your dream job?

I’ve always wanted to work in publishing. Not as an Editor or anything because I’m terrible at catching mistakes grammar wise in books but rather a Literary Agent.

  • Is there anything you LOVE about blogging that you didn’t imagine you’d love doing, at first?

This is a really recent thing but I actually love scheduling posts ahead of time. When I first started blogging I was absolutely terrible at it and couldn’t imagine myself ever scheduling posts. Now, however, I’ve started using Sundays to schedule posts for the week and it’s this giant weight off my shoulders. It’s nice knowing I have a few posts there for the week. Now if only I could master the art of having a ton of reviews drafted.

  • Also, is there on the contrary anything that’s a struggle for you as a book blogger?

Something that is a struggle for me is coming up with original content. I’ll have small moments where I have all the ideas and then way more moments where I have zero. It’s like I love writing discussion posts but, well, I guess ideas for them just don’t love me. 😂

Jess @ Beaucoup Books:

  • What other hobbies do you have apart from blogging? (the hobbies that have stuck, that is)

Besides blogging, I pretty much just read, write, and binge watch tv shows. I also like making book playlists but I’m not sure if that could be considered a hobby. Hobbies rarely if ever stick for me. 🙈

anigif_enhanced-20160-1428004864-2.gif

Tiana @ The Book Raven:

  • What advice would you give to baby book bloggers just starting out?

Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed by all of it. I feel like there’s this certain pressure to be caught up with every post always or reply to all the comments straight away or to review every single book you read and putting all of that pressure on yourself can not only take the fun out of blogging but the fun out of reading as well. If all you feel like doing for a few days is reading then just do that. Or if you don’t want to review a book then don’t. If you need a break then take it because it’s easy to get burnt out on it all, at least for me. (This is the advice I wish I’d had whenever I had my first blog.)

  • Random: If you could have any animal as a pet mythological or otherwise what would it be?

DRAGON!! Ever since I read Eragon in middle school I’ve wished I could have my very own dragon.

Danielle @ Books, Vertigo and Tea & Lilly @ Lair of Books:

  • I really just want to know something about you that is completely unbook related. Anything really that we do not know and you are comfortable sharing. Maybe some random fun fact about yourself. 😉
  • I’ll go with Danielle’s suggestion, any fun/random facts about YOU. 😉

I’m going to do five random facts:

  1. When I was really little I was 100% convinced that faeries did, in fact, live in mushrooms and was terrified of stepping on them. Then one day I got up the courage to step on one and nothing happened. Although, little me felt really bad because she believed in faeries and thought she destroyed one of their homes. 🙈
  2. I’m a really introspective person, most of the times I get so lost in my own thoughts that I either don’t hear someone talking to me or I unconsciously start talking out loud. And I feel like it makes me seem rude but sometimes I just slip into my own head without meaning to.
  3. I have the worst fear of talking on phones. I can text and I can email but when it comes to talking on the phone I physically shake. I don’t even know why because I used to love talking on the phone. Though I have learned it can be a part of having social anxiety, which I have.
  4. I’m convinced that I’m a cat whisperer. In my old neighborhood, we had this neighbor who had a cat that hated everyone, even him, and one day I sat down outside and the cat waltzed right up to me purring. My neighbor was so shocked. And then every time we’ve moved it’s like suddenly all the cats appear in our yard. I love it but my parents hate it. 😂
  5. I’ve had dreams come true before. Once, in middle school, I dreamt that my speech teacher would be out the next day and that a terrible storm would knock the lights out during that class. It happened exactly how it did in my dream, I was a little freaked out.

Loonyloonyvish:

  • Can you touch your nose with your tongue or wiggle your ears or both?

Neither. I have a friend who can do both though. 😂

  • Would you rather clean or cook?

Can I go with baking since it’s a form of cooking? I enjoy baking stuff.

  • What is your birthdate?

October 27th! I was supposed to be born on Halloween but well…

fall-nature-animated-gif-15

  • What colour do you like the most?

I’m always in a tie between blue and green, both are my favorites.

Shealea @ That Bookshelf Bitch:

  • Favorite Disney princess?

I’m forever in a tie between Mulan and Belle for this! I love them both so much and can never choose. When I was little I had a sing along Disney tape for each and played them so much that my mom hid the tapes.

  • If you were a Pokemon, what would you be?

Definitely Mudkip!

tumblr_ms6lrm2NV91s8hpsjo1_500.gif

Azia @ The Uncharted Word:

  • If you’re a fan of superheroes, which Marvel (or DC) movie is your favorite so far?

I’ve never been into the whole superhero thing but I do love X-Men. I’ve seen all of the original movies, the first Wolverine one, and then X-Men: First Class but none of the others yet. I couldn’t tell you which was my favorite though as it’s been so long since I last watched any of them. (I think this means I need a marathon soon to re-watch and catch up.)

Closet Readers:

  • Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I wanted to talk about books with other bookworms. I remember I was reading this book series and I loved it so much that I wanted to write a review. Thus, my blog was born! 😁

  • And who are your favourite bloggers?

Beth @ Reading Every Night, Azia @ The Uncharted Word, Reg @ She Latitude, Marie @ Drizzle & Hurricane Books, Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews, Michelle @ Book Adventures, Lilly @ Lair of Books, Anna @ My Bookish Dream, Gretchen @ cichnerdreadsFadwa @ Word Wonders, Megan @ bookslayerReads, Jasmine @ How Useful It Is, Danielle @ Books, Vertigo and Tea, Puput @ Sparkling Letters, Stephanie @ TeacherofYA, Cait @ Paper Fury, Brittany @ Book Rambles, Kourtni @ Kourtni Reads, Analee @ Book Snacks

You guys should follow all of them because they’re amazing. ♥

Analee @ Book Snacks:

  • How long does it take for you to write a post?

It depends. Sometimes it can take an hour sometimes it can up to four or five. I’m slow when it comes to writing posts.

  1. Sooooo… you are a psychic, cat whispering, faerie home destroyer! I am totally cool with the psychic and cat business, but not sure how I feel about your stepping on mushrooms 😛 This has been seriously fun Melissa! I understand the phone part. Sometimes I clam up about phone calls also ❤

    Liked by 1 person

    • Apparently! I swear I was actually terrified when I stepped on the mushroom because my parents always told me faeries would attack me if I did. And, of course, I believed them. 😂 And I’m glad I’m not the only one good with phones. Written communication is so much easier in my opinion lol. 😊

      Liked by 1 person

      • Written communication is way easier.. but trouble is that when dealing with something serious it can also be easily misconstrued or taken out of context. So I often have to force myself to pick up a phone if that matter is of importance.. sigh.

I simply love these answers ❤

  2. I got to Erogon and I freaked out!!! I love dragons and I read the book a LONG time ago and fell in love with the movie. Dragons are amazing and awesome and Inlove them. Any who, thanks for answering my questions and congratulations again on your blogaversery!!!

  3. Ahah these were great answers Melissa, I LOVED reading this! It’s bit crazy how that dream of yours came true?! Maybe you have some sort of magical powers? Haha 🙂 Also, I LOVE Mulan and Belle SO much ❤ ❤ ❤

    • Thanks so much, Marie!! Glad you enjoyed reading it. 😁
Right!? I was really freaked out that day when everything happened like in my dream. It’s actually happened a few times. Who knows? Maybe I could have magical powers. (If only because that would actually be awesome 😂)
And YAY about Mulan and Belle! After doing this I was wishing the first Mulan movie was on Netflix but sadly it isn’t.

  4. Wow.. So many amazing questions and I love all of your answers! That’s really a great advice for new bloggers! (by the way, can you add an “r” to “you” in my question? I must’ve had a typo there haha). I need to read that book to learn what’s exciting about Prague! hehe.. Thanks also for the shoutout, you are also my favorite blogger too! Good luck on your decision about self-hosting or premium upgrade! Your phone phobia.. so, does that mean you don’t ever talk on the phone? What would a Literary Agent do? I think Editor is a tough job, reading through all these books.. and multiple times I should think..

    Liked by 1 person

    • Thanks so much, Jasmine!! And sure I’ll edit it. I hadn’t even realized. Probably because the last time I went over the post before posting it I was half asleep. 😂🙈 You should so read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. It’s incredible and Laini Taylor’s writing is gorgeous. She’s great with descriptions so when she describes Prague in those books it makes you want to hop on a plane. I talk on the phone to my parents and siblings but beyond them almost never, not even to my best friend. I’m just not good with phones at all and wish I could type everything instead lol. And a Literary Agent is someone who reads an author’s book and pitches it to publishers. They’re the go between when it comes to getting a book published, I guess. 😊

      Liked by 1 person

      • Oh cool! I thought authors have to pitch their own book to publishers hehe I will have to plan on reading Laini Taylor’s books one of these days! Thanks!

  5. Oh I didn’t even realise there was a part three to your questions post, then again now you’ve posted it I did realise you didn’t answer all my questions in either of the first two. 😀
Anyways great answers for all these questions. I definitely agree the best part of my blogging journey has been all the friends I’ve made so far, also your zombie dream sounds more scary than strange, but that’s just my opinion.
I’d love to be able to go to Ireland, hopefully I will one day because I have no excuse, it’s not like I live far away from there or anything. Also I went to Prague a few years ago with my sister and one of my friends and it was because I read the Daughter of Smoke and Bone books and fell in love with the city. It’s a gorgeous place and I think you’d really love it there as well! 🙂
I started blogging so I could talk to people about books, something that obviously worked out well, and thanks so much for featuring me as one of your favourite bloggers. You’re definitely one of mine as well! 😀 ❤

    • Honestly, I took so long to post it that I think everyone forgot about it until now. I had planned to post it right after Part 2 but then I may have procrastinated a little along with being busy with work. 😂
Thanks so much, Beth!! I think that’s one of my favorite parts of blogging in general, making friends. Everyone in the community is just so nice. And I’ve actually had scarier zombie dreams than that! Aside from the two people who were attacked by zombies I never saw the actual zombies in that one. The one after it was me running from zombies which was way worse. 😣
You’re lucky that you live so close to Ireland! I wish traveling was cheaper so I could travel there. My friend has been twice and I’m like *has travel envy* lol. And I remember you telling me about Prague before. That’s amazing that you’ve gotten to travel there! It’s so gorgeous. I really do hope I’m able to go one day. 😊
      Of course!! 💕

      • Kind of like a little bonus to see it after all this time, it was certainly interested to read all your answers to these questions. 🙂
That’s all right, and it’s so easy to make friends on here isn’t it. We all have a similar interest so it’s literally just reaching out to people and starting a conversation. That’s what we must have done however long ago it was! 😀 Really, I’ve never had a zombie dream but I would not like one. I hate anything scary and it always sucks having nightmares, or any weird and strange dreams like that.
It is handy for travel where I live, but doesn’t necessarily mean I get to these places. Never been to Ireland or Wales despite how close I live to there. It’s amazing, I’d love to go again one day so I hope you enjoy it when you get a chance to go. 😀 ❤

        Liked by 1 person

      • It really is just a matter of reaching out and starting a conversation. It helps that we’re all bookworms. Especially when we find other bloggers that share favorite books and such. 😁 Definitely what we must have done!
For some reason zombie dreams don’t freak me out or any dreams with fictional monsters. It’s the realistic dreams about terrible storms or car accidents and stuff like that that I always find the most scary. 😖
I get that. It’s nearly the same thing here because Texas is so big. Even though I’m not that far from Dallas or Austin or any of the recognizable cities I’ve never been. Though I hope to one day! 😊

        Liked by 1 person

      • I think that’s what I did when I was first starting out, and it really does work so added bonus there! 😀
I’m pretty much the opposite, I don’t mind realistic dreams that much, although they can never be pleasant can they, but the ones with evil mythical creatures like zombies just scare me to death!
I guess when it comes to travel you never really think of the places closest to you do you? 🙂

  6. Oh MY GOSH! I LOVE your answers so much that I’m reading & scrolling down to the comment box to write just so that i don’t forget cuz it is long LOL! “I would so love to visit Prague! Ever since I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor I’ve wanted to travel there” YASSSS!!! same exact thought here & it was all thanks to Laini! I swear you’re my book soul sister hehe 😉 I also get lost within my thoughts & often catch the tail end of a conversation which then leads me to either fake the funk or confess to having spaced out smh. Ok, so the phone…I have bad social anxiety & get so exasperated when I have to take a call outside. I’m better at answering a call at home but i am not a fan.#5 makes you look so much cooler in my eyes lol! Mulan X Belle! i”m in my cubicle silently mouthing YASSSS! haha, great answers Melissa, you’re a fave of mine too, but you knew that already 😉

    Liked by 1 person

    • Thanks so much, Lilly!! 😁♥ Glad you enjoyed them. And right? I actually cringed when I saw how long it was lol. YAY about Prague! I swear it’s Laini’s descriptive writing in Daughter of Smoke and Bone! The way she described Prague gave me some serious wanderlust. If only traveling was cheaper though. 😣 I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets really lost in their thoughts like that. Although I’m rarely ever able to fake my way out of it. 🙈 For me, it’s anyone who isn’t immediate family. I can answer the phone for my siblings and parents perfectly fine but with anyone else I’m always looking for an excuse not to answer or to get off the phone ASAP. There always ends up being way too many awkward silences where I don’t know what to say, which makes it worse. Mulan and Belle are the best! I ended up running to look at Netflix after this because I wanted to watch Mulan but they don’t have the first one on there sadly.

      • all the more reason to dive into Strange the Dreamer *sobs* I just know its gonna be super atmospheric and i’m so ready for it lol. I’m actually hoping to see her at Bookcon next mth since she is one of my top 3 fave authors *fingers crossed* the phone things for me is with everyone, no idea why lol. My daughter loves watching Mulan and basically any kick ass female on the screen but she has naturally taken a liking to diverse characters which makes my heart smile 😉

      • Before I read ACOWAR I had planned on reading Strange the Dreamer after it but now I’m in book limbo. I’m not in a slump and I really want to read something else but I can’t figure out what. And I heard Strange the Dreamer is a bit slowish which might not hold my attention at the moment. 🙈 I hope you get to meet her a Bookcon! I almost had the chance to meet her last year at a festival here but then didn’t get to go. And your daughter sounds awesome! 😁

        Liked by 1 person

      • Gretchen actually just finished reading Strange and it took her about 2 weeks lol. She said it’s def slow but very atmospheric & lush so she was a fan. I am a fan of Laini’s writing so I just know I’m going to devour that book but you def need to be in the mood for it. Thanks Melissa, she is pretty awesome 💕

  7. I definitely agree on blogging being time consuming – it’s not something I expected when I started doing it. Though fun, it can be stressful as well! 😂 Ireland looks simply beautiful and I would LOVE to visit it one day! Hopefully I will be able to do that and then I would take my best friend with me as she is literary obsessed with everything related to Ireland. I hope you get to move there one day!
YESSS to dragons! They are simply amazing and I would love to have one as well. Whenever I see that a book has dragons in it I want to read it. And yes, Eragon is probably the one that ignited my love for them as well. 😀 Mulan is also my favourite Disney princess, I just love her!
Thank you for featuring me as one of your favourite bloggers! You’re one of mine as well! ❤

    Liked by 1 person

    • It really can be stressful at times! Especially when you take a few days off and then have to catch up (me right now 😅😂). But I think, in the end, it’s worth it and more fun than stressful. 😁 Your friend sounds like me! Ireland is just so gorgeous and if teleportation existed I would be there right now. Hopefully we’re both able to at least visit there one day!
YES! Same about wanting to read any book with dragons in it. I’ve yet to find one I’ve liked beyond Eragon though. Do you have an recs? And Mulan is amazing! She seems to be a lot of people’s favorite which I love.
      Of course!! 💕😊

      Liked by 1 person

      • I’m plan on starting Eldest soon, I have read Eragon a few months ago but never actually continued the series – so I plan on changing that soon! 😀 I’m really exited about that. I have heard that the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik is amazing, sooo I would recommend you that one! (Even though I haven’t read it yet. I actually haven’t read that many dragon books now that I think about it, sad times…) YES for Mulan! I love hearing people say that she is their favourite. ❤

        Liked by 1 person

      • I read both Eragon and Eldest years and years ago but then never continued with the series myself so I definitely need to do the same. Eldest is probably my favorite in the series so far though and I hope you enjoy it! 😁 And I’ll have to look that series up on Goodreads. Funny enough Samantha Shannon is currently writing a book with dragons that’s releasing next year. Her writing is incredible so if you want more dragon books I definitely recommend keeping an eye out for that one. 😊

  8. Awesome answers! Also, thanks so much for the shoutout 😀 You’re definitely one of my favorite bloggers, too ❤ And I love the X-Men too. I've seen every single movie, but I think I'm just watching them for Wolverine/Hugh Jackman, to be honest lol. Although the first two X-Men movies are my favorites simply because they are amazing 😀 And Belle is definitely one of my favorite princesses. Who doesn't love a fellow bookworm? Also, Mulan is a badass. Can't help but love her to pieces haha. I'd love to be an editor but I've always been interested in being a literary agent too! I hope that you manage to achieve that dream job one day 🙂 Also, love that play list. I can listen to Iris all day, and For the First Time is my favorite song by The Script. You, my friend, have great taste 😉 Haha, fantastic post! ❤

    Liked by 1 person

    • Thanks so much, Azia!! And of course!! 😁💕 Honestly, I wonder if I’m watching for the same reason lol. I mean who wouldn’t? But at the same time I really do love X-Men. I just need to get caught up on the movies. And I really want to see Logan ASAP even though I haven’t seen all of the others.
Right? Belle is like my kindred spirit because of her love for books. But yes Mulan is badass! I wanted to be her when I was little 😂. I hope so too! And I’m glad you enjoyed the playlist. For the First Time is my favorite by The Script too and funny enough Iris ended up on this playlist because I was making a Feyre/Rhys playlist and put that on there and once I listen to that song it’s impossible to not have it on repeat for a while. 😂

      Liked by 1 person

      • X-Men is probably one of the best Marvel creations, in my opinion. I love the original team so much! And you HAVE to see Logan. It’s FANTASTIC. Probably the best in the X-Men/Wolverine franchise, besides X-II.
I hold a lot of love for most of the princesses to be honest. I see a little bit of myself in all of them 😀 And Iris is so repeatable. It’s such an amazing song, and you’re right, very fitting for Rhys/Feyre 😉

        Liked by 1 person

      • Ahhh you’re making me want to watch it even more. Is Logan even out on DVD or Digital yet? Once it is, if it isn’t, I’m so going to have to see if I can rent it on Amazon Prime.
Right? I made a whole Feyre/Rhys playlist after I reread ACOMAF last month and plan on sharing it with my ACOWAR review. 😁

        Liked by 1 person

      • I don’t think so. I’m thinking it’ll be available by mid to late summer!
Ooh yay! Can’t wait to see that playlist lol. I can always use something new to listen to

  9. Aww, I loved this post and reading all your answers ♥♥ I totally get you on ALL the blogging stuff especially in regards to talking to people here. I started on LiveJournal way back in the day and was super active in the community, but then lost a lot of that when I switched over to Tumblr so it was really nice and surprising to interact with so many people here. It’s really helped me gain a little bit of confidence. The time consuming aspect can definitely suck though haha. Great choice of songs too 😀 IRIS ♥♥

    Liked by 1 person

    • Thanks so much and glad you loved it Lauren!! 😁♥ I never did LiveJournal but that’s how I was with this one website that I can’t remember the name of at the moment and then I switched to Tumblr too and barely talked on there. Tumblr just seems harder to interact on. But same blogging has definitely helped me gain a little bit of confidence too. 😊

  10. Ahhhh loved reading your answers!! ❤ I agree with so much, the blogging friends I made here makes blogging so amazing! And blog hopping is so much fun but agh totally takes up so much time!! Ironic for sure haha 🙈 And eeep Mulan and Belle! ❤ I want to watch both of those movies now haha. Sameeeee for scheduling!! I used to not do it at all (at first I didn’t know it was a thing and then later I had a scheduling mishap where it posted on the wrong date??) but not I got the hang of it, kind of, and it is totally a relief to know there are posts already prepared for that day/week. 😊 Ahh blogging is so time consuming, isn’t it? Most of my posts take at least an hour, if not more omg. My most recent post that I scheduled took over two! It’s insane. But I love blogging so much! And eeeep you’re one of my favourite book bloggers as well, having friends like you in the blogging community is what makes it so worth it. 💞
