This month was pretty great! š
Of course, I couldn’t not include a Beauty and the Beast gif in this wrap-up. I mean that movie was perfection and probably the highlight of my month. I took my mom and little sisters to see it and during the library part they all turned to me and said, “You would never leave that room.” Which, I wouldn’t. š Have you guys gotten the chance to see it yet? What did you think? Anyway! Besides that, I participated in my first Goodreads Q&A this month that one of my favorite authors was doing. Safe to say I got nothing done that day but it was completely worth it. I also got more blogging done this month than I have since the end of last year and read two incredible books. Plus, it was my one year blogiversary! *throws party* Outside of obsessing over Beauty and the Beast, reading, and blogging I had a relaxing month which was a much needed and nice change of pace.

I ultimately decided against reviewing The Struggle because I needed a mini breakĀ from reviewing and also because I read itĀ way too fast. I devoured this book in less than a day because I couldn’t put it down. I loved it! Seeing how much Seth has grown since the Covenant series and just all the twists and turns. I’m in such a toss up over this month’s favorite read because bothĀ The Struggle andĀ A Darker Shade of MagicĀ were incredible in very different ways. However, in the end,Ā A Darker Shade of MagicĀ wins simply for the fact that I am still in awe over the world building. I’m not entirely sure what April will hold for this little book blog. I do know that I plan on trying to get back into posting two to three times a week. I also plan on keeping up the monthly recommendation posts I’ve been doing for the past few months because I have so much fun with them. And due to the great response I got on the discussion I did this past month I’ve decided I’m going to try to do monthly discussions now as well. I’ve never been the best at coming up with discussion topics but I have a short list at the moment that I’m really excited about. Beyond that, I’m just winging it like always. š
Oh and at the beginning of the month I’ll have my blogiversary Q&A response posts up, it’ll most likely be in two or three parts. So, be on the lookout for that!

In March, even though I said I couldn’t, I deviated a bit from my TBR. *hangs head in shame* I just couldn’t get into Blood Rose Rebellion at all. This month, however, I’m so excited about my TBR. I’m finishing up the Shades of Magic books, which I’ve been loving so much, and then I’m finally going to readĀ The Night Circus. Let’s just say this fantasy binge is going strong and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon. (Also, I love how the books in my TBR for this month match color scheme wise. š)
I hope all of you guys had an incredible March full of great books and that you have an even better April! š
P.S. Only a little over a month until ACOWAR! *does happy dance*
Ā What books did you read in March? What was your favorite?Ā Did you have a good blogging month or just a good month in general?Ā What do you plan on reading in April? š
I’m glad to see you’re enjoying the Shades of Magic books! I really need to get my hands on ACOL. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you think of The Night Circus. I’ve heard a lot of really great things about it and definitely want to read it at some point. Hope April is a great month for you! š

They’re quickly becoming favorites of mine! I can’t believe I put off reading them for so long lol. I hope you enjoy ACOL. Though I’ve been hearing great things so I’m betting you will. š
And I’ve heard so many good things about TNC too. I feel like my expectations are so high at this point that I’m a little scared but excited to finally read it. I hope April is a great month for you too, Kourtni!! š

If you are the wrong reader for the book, then it’s better to stop reading. Trust me, the author understands.

She loved it and I felt embarrassed for crying but I just couldn’t help it hahah.. and yes, that library was awesome! your mom and sis know you well hehe.. love their reactions hehe.. Great variety of posts on your blog in March! I need to get back to doing more posts other than reviews haha..

It was a pretty great month! I hope yours was good too. š And you’re not alone in crying over Beauty and the Beast, I had tears in my eyes several times. It was just so perfect and brought back so many memories! I couldn’t help but cry. Yes, my mom and little sisters know me well. I even dragged them to B&N afterwards. š It’s the opposite for me, I need to get more reviews up lol.

I did some research after the movie. The Beast stands on stilts to get that height and he also wear stilts when dancing. I saw an interview with Emma Watson and she said the dancing was tough because her dress was big and him on stilts! I didn’t think they had a hard time filming the dance because it looks so flawless š

I saw that interview too! I couldn’t believe that he had been dancing on stilts because, like you said, it looked flawless. I would have been falling all over the place lol. I also heard in another one, I think, where they had him in all of this padding and stuff for CGI purposes. You can’t even tell.

Great recap for this month Melissa. I am so beyond excited you finally got around to ADSOM, and the fact that it was your favourite book of the month is even better in my opinion! I know you’re currently reading AGOS but I am so so excited for you to finish that book so we can talk more about the story and the cliffhanger. Also I definitely can’t wait for you to get started on ACOL either! š
Your book haul is amazing, I love how you have This Savage Song on there as well, also your to-read list for next month could pretty much be a list of my top three favourite books. Obviously I feel I’ve mentioned enough time how much I love the Shades of Magic series but I also really really love The Night Circus! š
I haven’t seen Beauty and the Beast yet. I’m going with my sister in a couple of weeks and I am so excited. Everyone who’s seen it so far has said it’s amazing so my hopes are sky high!
Again great recap, and I hope you have a great blogging and reading month in April as well! š ā¤

Thanks so much, Beth!! š Cliffhanger aside, I am still kicking myself over the fact that I waited so long to read ADSOM. I’ve had it on my Kindle since the middle of last year before I knew about the AGOS cliffhanger. Makes me wish I would have read it sooner lol. I’m about 30% into AGOS at the moment so only 70% to go! I’m determined to get it finished and move onto ACOL this coming week since I have it off work. I need to ban myself from Netflix because I got distracted by this show today and where I planned to read I ended up binge watching said show instead. š
This Savage Song was one of the Kindle Daily Deals this month so I couldn’t pass it up since I plan on reading it later this year. And you definitely influenced my TBR for this month. After your review for TNC I knew I was going to have to finally read it this month because it sounds so incredible and I’ve been putting it off for years.
And I so hope you end up enjoying Beauty and the Beast when you go see it! It really was amazing and Emma as Belle was perfect. You’re gonna have to let me know what you think after you see it!
I hope you have a great reading and blogging month in April too! šā„

That’s all right. š ⤠Ahh we all have series like that. I guess if you don't discover them until late you do then wonder why it took you so long to get around to them. There's likely always been something else you've wanted to get around to first. Still at least you've got around to it now and you won't have to wait through the cliffhanger until the third book because trust me you'll understand once you've finished AGOS why that was torture.
Ohh, what show are you watching?
I wouldn't have been able to resist that then either. But at least now you have it and can get started on it whenever. I hope you enjoy This Savage Song as much as I did Melissa, and oh that's great about The Night Circus. I'm going to be really really excited to see your review for that one!
I'm getting more and more excited for Beauty and the Beast, and yep, we'll have to talk about it once I've seen it as well.
Thanks Melissa! š ā¤

Very true. And I feel like that’s happened more often than not since I started blogging. So many series have sat on my TBR for so long that I’m just now getting around to. š And you’re making me even more curious for this cliffhanger! I wish I could read faster lol.
At first it was this one show called Good Morning Call and now it’s 13 Reasons Why. The book is one of my all time favorites and the show has been incredible so far. I only have 6 more episodes left.
Yep! And I will let you know when I start and finish TNC. š
You’re welcome!! š

At least you are eventually getting around to them. Yeah it may take a while but you’re still picking them up and starting them. That’s the important thing I think.
That’s my evil plan, make you so curious you read faster and faster! š
Oh I knew 13 Reasons Why was being released on Netflix but didn’t realise it had yet. I’m glad the show is as good as the book in that case! š ā¤

Definitely the important thing. And it means I’m reading some great books too. š
I know I said this in another comment but I nearly looked ahead last night. I’m nearly half way through the book now lol.
I finished it a few days ago and loved it! It was definitely as good as the book and they even expanded on it in more ways than the book which was perfect. š
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well there’s that as well. Plus you don’t have to wait for another book to be released because they all already have! That’s one good thing about starting series late.
Ohh don’t look ahead. If you’re halfway through you’re on your way there and it will be so much better if it ends up surprising you.
Oh that’s great to hear. I’ve been seeing a lot online about the show and people seem to love it so it may be something I look into as well. š

Very true, which is great for the impatient reader that I am. š
I’m so proud of myself because I haven’t look ahead! Not a lot, anyway. I’ve looked a few pages ahead at times but I haven’t peeked at the ending. I only have 20% left and am starting to get really anxious! You were right, I don’t know how I’m not going to want to jump straight into ACOL before writing a review for AGOS. š

Oh I look ahead a couple of pages, I think everyone does that, and there are times when I want to peak at the end of a book as well but resist the urge for this one. If you’ve only got 20% left then you’re nearly there!
I’m still an advocate of you jumping right into ACOL straight away I’ll admit! š

I finished it yesterday and didn’t peek ahead at all once I got to the last few chapters. Seriously, I’m still all shocked over the cliffhanger! I finished drafting my review last night but I haven’t started ACOL yet for some reason. I’m kind of scared for what might happen now! š
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh that is good to hear, that you didn’t peek. Did it make the cliffhanger all the more shocking the fact you didn’t (maybe not the part about Lila but the part about Kell and what’s happened to Rhy?)
I was a little scared about starting ACOL as well, but it’s a great book so seriously you don’t need to be scared! Well, you do, but not about whether the book will be good or not. š

It did! The š± emoji was pretty much me reading all of the stuff about Kell and Rhy at the end of AGOS.

Definitely talking about Rhy and Kell again. V.E. Schwab broke my heart big time with all of that! I’m actually about 40% into ACOL at the moment and so much has happened. It feels like I should be further in the book than I am. š

Yes then we’re probably thinking of the same scene. God I don’t know what I thought would happen but I was reading faster than ever at that point to try and find out what would happen next.
Are you enjoying it so far then? Seriously keep my updated on what you think of this one. I’m just so excited you’re finally reading it! š

I was too and then I was shouting at the book. I was like, “Don’t you dare Schwab!” šš. But seriously so much happened in the beginning that I could tell when things were about to go down hill.
I am loving it! I’m just past the half-way mark and Kell, Lila, Alucard, and Holland are at sea. Which the dynamic of Holland thrown in is so interesting. I actually like him now where I was really on the fence about him before.

God that scene was heartbreaking. Most of this book was heartbreaking though, still I’m glad she didn’t do what she nearly did at the beginning to Rhy and Kell.
I’m not sure if you’ve got to that part yet but they’re on the ship and Alucard bursts into the room Lila and Kell are in soaking wet and says…something. I can’t remember what but if you’ve reaching that scene you’ll know what one I’m talking about. I laughed so much at that part! š

I’m glad she didn’t either. I don’t think I would have been able to get past it. Though at the moment I only have 20% left of the book and am possibly avoiding reading it because I’m scared for the ending. š
I LOVED THAT PART! He says “Stop fucking with the ship.” and then I cracked up laughing so hard. I actually reread that part a few times because I couldn’t stop laughing. š

I definitely wouldn’t have. I’d have had to put the book down for a minute to adjust.
Well, now you’ve finished (which I know because I’ve seen your later comment) what did you think of the ending.
Ha, yeah I knew you’d know it if you reached it. That was probably one of my favourite Alucard scenes. I laughed so hard too! š

I loved the ending! It was perfect and has just the right amount of openness. Usually I don’t like when it ends more open but it worked so well for Shades of Magic. Though now I’m desperate for the special edition of ADSOM that’s coming out in October because it’s supposed to have extra stories and I want those stories. š

I have it pre-ordered and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I’ll have to read it all over again just to get the whole experience! š

AGOS is so so great. ⤠I know you must've heard tons about the nororious cliffhanger, of course. š I can guarantee you'll love AGOS ahah. And I adore your TBR! ACOL is a great conclusion to the series (basically all the feels!!) and The Night Circus is such a great book as well, I loved it. Beauty and the Beast is amazing!! I loved the movie so so so much, it was definitely the highlight for me as well, honestly. ⤠Lovely recap!

I actually only have 20% left in AGOS at the moment and am loving it! Seriously, anxious for the cliffhanger though because I have heard a lot about it LOL. I have a feeling I’ll want to dive straight into ACOL even though I’ll have to pause to write a review.
Glad to hear you enjoyed Beauty and the Beast too! It was seriously such a perfect movie. I want to go see it again!
Thanks so much, Analee!! šš
