How BookNerdMomo Started

It was kind of a spur of the moment decision. I had just quit my job and had a lot of extra free time so I was getting back into Bookstagram, and I decided I wanted to take it one step further by taking up blogging again. I previously blogged for a few months a few years ago, but the pressure to read and review constantly got the better of me so I dropped it. It took the fun out of reading for me, in a way. Then around the end of March I noticed more and more people starting blogs, and I was like “Why not give it another try?”. So I did.

I wanted a place to share my love of reading and Bookstagram just wasn’t doing it for me. I hardly ever got any interaction on there, and I wanted to talk to other book lovers about books. Turns out blogging has been the perfect format for me in that aspect! It’s gone a million times better than my first blogging attempt and I’m glad I decided to give it another go.

Advice to New Bloggers

I feel weird doing this since I’m still a new blogger myself, BookNerdMomo has only been around for three months. But I’ll try with two pieces of advice I wish I had had when I first started blogging.

  • Don’t be afraid to interact with other bloggers
  • Don’t feel pressured to post (something I wish I had understood the first time around)

The best way to not only get your blog out there but to also make friends is interacting with other bloggers. You’ll find so many people who share your opinions and then those who stop and make you think because they don’t and so it gives you a different perspective. I’ve talked to some of the nicest people on here! Everyone in the book blogging community I’ve come across has been a sweetheart. It’s an amazing community! So, you have no reason to fear talking to anyone because none of us bite, I promise.

Never feel pressured to post! If you’re not feeling it one day, one week, one month, or even several then don’t post. We will all still be here when you feel like getting on again. There are so many pressures and hardships in life already and blogging is supposed to be a fun escape from that, not something that adds on to it. This blog has been so therapeutic for me and I hope blogging can be like that for someone else too.
