May TBR & Blog Goals

I’ve decided I’m going to post my monthly TBR on here along with a set of goals I hope to accomplish with my blog that month too. Trying to throw some new things into the mix!

Is it TBR time again? Seems like just yesterday I was posting an outrageous TBR on my instagram that I knew I most likely wasn’t going to complete. I was right, I only read one book on it. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about monthly TBRs and realized I needed to set myself a more realistic goal instead of just snagging books I want to eventually read off my shelves and throwing them together. I’m more of a mood reader than anything. I have to be in the mood for a book to really get into it. So, my TBR this month consist of the series I’m currently reading along with the series I’ve been dying to read the sequel to. It also consists of a reread since it’s been well over a year since I read Red Queen and I know I’m going to need a refresher. I will be posting a review for that reread because of the fact that I never actually reviewed it the first time I read it.

  • The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski
  • The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski
  • Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
  • Cruel Crown by Victoria Aveyard
  • Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

Here’s to hoping I’m able to finish them all in May and review them!

So the end of March and through April I feel like I was just trying to get used to seriously blogging and trying to work it in around work and my other obligations. This month I want to really jump into it. This blog is probably the most I’ve written since I left high school and in a way it’s been therapeutic for me. It’s made me feel creative again and given me inspiration. I’m glad I decided to give blogging another chance.

Some things I’ve noticed in my blog sleuthing is all the ways you guys make each of your blogs unique and creative using tags, memes, ect. I might borrow some of your ideas, with credit. They seem fun and I like how all of you tag each other in things. I don’t exactly know anyone on here yet, I hope to change that too, so I don’t have anyone to tag in anything myself but if anyone ever wants to tag me in something go ahead. I would actually really like that. 🙂

I also want to get my blog to look exactly how I want it. I’m working out the kinks post wise in getting creative with images and other things but I’ve yet to be able to get my blog looking exactly how I want it. I’m debating and really leaning towards paying for an official domain name so I can get the extra leeway customizing wise that comes with that. Then I realized I haven’t used photoshop or actual HTML in years so there’s a big chance I wouldn’t know what I was doing. I was never all that great at photoshop anyway. Unless it required making GIFs I found I had a talent for that once upon a time. If anyone has any advice for me in that area I’m all ears because I could use the advice.

I’m also hoping to be able to post way more on here this month review wise! Last month was more random thoughts than reviews. I fully blame my mind that so easily gets distracted at times and the fact that last month was kind of crazy.

Anyway those are my blog goals for May! And if any of you have any book blogging tips you’re willing to share with me please do. I could use some.

So what are your May TBRs or other goals you hope to accomplish? 🙂

  1. I see Victoria Aveyard’s books everywhere and I’m really intrigued! I have A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuval on my tbr this month, along with a few others!

Good luck with your blog goals, too! 🙂

    • Red Queen was pretty amazing, what I remember of it anyway. I’d recommend it :). It’s kind of a political dystopian fantasy caste system kind of thing with one caste having powers and believing they’re the superior race and the other caste being without powers. It’s really interesting. Thank you! 😀

  2. I really need to get into the Winner’s Curse series! I’ve heard nothing but great things.
I also don’t know a ton of people around here, so nice to meet you, I guess haha.
Wishing you the best of luck with all of your reading and blogging goals!

  3. Great books you’re reading this month! I’m actually not a big fan of Red Queen at all but I’ve been hearing really good things about The Winner’s series… though I also haven’t started those just yet.

Also glad to hear that blogging has been therapeutic! It’s kind of the same for me, though I started blogging mostly because I was feeling very… unproductive in life. Have fun tinkering with the blog – that’s one of the best parts of this whole hobby, I think. 🙂

PS: I don’t really use Instagram for book blogging but I love how green your photos are! Great use of nature.

    • The Winner’s series is definitely interesting and unique! I’ve been enjoying it. 🙂

I started for a similar reason; I was in between jobs and had a lot of free time I needed filling. I also love that with blogging I can get my thoughts out about books. I don’t really know anyone in my personal life that reads like I do and would be interested in my ranting and raving over a book they haven’t read xD. Tinkering is definitely fun and possibly a little frustrating. I blame that on my lack of photoshop skills though as I’ve been trying to create a logo and failing haha.

      Thank you 😀
