April Wrap Up & Book Haul

So this is my first monthly wrap up and book haul. I’ve never done one before so this may seem a little unorganized and I apologize for that.

I’ve had a crazy month! I’ve been in the process of  registering for college, which I start in June, and I’ve been getting used to a new job. Thus I haven’t read as much as I would have liked to. I think I started this blog back at the very end of March and so far I’ve only been able to post three reviews. I’m hoping to change that next month!

Book + Review #1:

Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs [REVIEW]

I’m so glad my friend talked me into buying this series. I absolutely loved it. It was one of those series that I don’t think I’ll ever forget. Ransom Riggs’ writing is incredible and he created such a unique world with these books. If you’re on a fantasy kick like I’ve been this past year and you haven’t read these pick them up! You won’t regret it.

By the way did anyone else hear about how he’s got something else for this series being published this year? Tales of the Peculiar! I’m so excited for it. While reading the books I was actually hoping that one day he would publish the book of stories from the book as an actual book. I can’t wait to read it!

Book + Review #2:

Perfectly Imperfect by Harper Sloan [REVIEW]

This one was kind of a miss for me. There were parts of it that I loved but then parts I wasn’t so fond of. Overall the writing was pretty great and I enjoyed most of it. I’m still on the fence about it, however. I think it’s one of those times where I really believe that not every book is for every reader given the amount of great reviews this has elsewhere.

Book + Review #3:

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski [REVIEW]

This lovely is actually my favorite read this month. I honestly love Marie Rutkoski’s writing and her characters. Her characters are so human and they are amazing in their strengths and flaws and her writing is incredible and transported me into the unique world she created. I’m finding a lot of lovely jewels in this fantasy book kick I’m on. I can’t wait to devour the other two books!

Version 2

This month was the first month that I’ve been able to actually afford to go crazy and buy books since before January. Also BN had a $10 hardcover deal going on and I couldn’t pass it up. I’m very happy with my April book haul! I’ve been eyeing every single one of these lovelies since they were published and I’m incredibly excited to read them. I’m actually currently reading The Winner’s Trilogy. Hopefully I get to the others soon.

  • The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski
  • The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski
  • The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski
  • Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
  • Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch
  • Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
  • Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

I especially can’t wait to crack open the new ones by Alexandra Bracken and Leigh Bardugo because I’ve loved their previous books. I feel like they’ve gained auto buy author status, for me.

Version 2

I think my first month officially running a book blog has gone okay. I’ve learned some things and have become more comfortable with posting my thoughts. I hope to keep building onto this blog and making it better. I’m still in the midst of getting it to look exactly how I want, doing some trial and error. I plan on changing it to a .com at the end of next month so that I have more options customizing wise. I also plan on reading way more next month. So be on look out for more reviews!

I haven’t exactly delved into the book blogging world as much as I would have liked, however. I hope to do more of that next month and maybe talk to people more on here and get more involved in the book bloggerverse. It’d be nice to meet more of you book bloggers :)!

I’m kind of losing my train of thought here but yeah. It’s been a crazy interesting month! Here’s to another one next month!

I also plan on posting a TBR on here in May! Will I actually follow my TBR though? We shall see.

I hope you’ve all had a good month full of reading and bookishness. 🙂

  1. Great group of books! I loved Six of Crows and Snow Like Ashes. I have yet to pick up the other books, but they’re definitely on my list! And welcome to the book bloggerverse 🙂
